| Since one of
SCATS goals is to promote the amateur radio hobby, we are going to
be participating in more contests and award chasing operating
activities (Worked All States, Worked All California Counties, Worked
All Continents)
throughout the year. We want to start getting WB6LRU on the path to
earning club recognition and awards as well as to recognize club members
and friends who helped us earn these awards. Last year, we not only participated in Field Day , but also worked the California QSO contest in October. We had a great time at each operating activity and asked ourselves, why aren't more clubs participating in these terrific venues? There are many reasons but for us, we want to put the FUN back into amateur radio and contesting and award chasing is the perfect answer! In addition, both are great ways to train new hams and help them get on the air! Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun regardless of what your license class or skill level is! We will be posting more information on upcoming contests, ground rules, and how to participate as a SCATS team contester. You don't have to participate in all the contests and don't have to operate any set amount of hours. All we ask is that you be a team player, cooperate with the guidelines that prevail from each contest sponsor (as well as SCATS ground rules) and of course, always follow the FCC rules. SCATS ground rules will be made on a case by case basis depending on the contest or award we are trying to earn. We will also post the links to the contests we are going to work beforehand so you can acquaint yourself with their rules and requirements. Hope you'll join us on the airwaves! |
